Triggers Of Gender Insecurity
Saturday 18th October 2008 9:30am – 4:30pm
So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27
To be able to live out of our real selves means being totally secure in our own gender. How we feel about our maleness or femaleness, deeply affects our sense of self.
We invite you to come and join us for a one day retreat in beautiful bush surroundings at Mt. Evelyn. Here we will explore some of the triggers of gender insecurity and then the hope for healing. Only the Father, who we come to through Jesus’ finished work, can access the deep origins of this brokenness within us and bring His healing and restoration. Only the Father can free us to stand uprightly in the powerful good of our maleness or femaleness, to love ourselves and others rightly.
Some of the topics to be addressed will include: The role of parents, Defensive detachment, Internalising mistreatment, The impact of peer relationships and the Hope for healing.
Cost: $20 per person Refreshments provided, BYO lunch.
The Retreat will offer: Teaching, Testimonies, Prayer Ministry, and Soaking Prayer
Venue: Mt. Evelyn Christian School, 135 York Road, Mt. Evelyn, 3796 Enter at the Junior School gates, off Hawkins Road. (Mel 52 J4) Places are limited to 25 participants.

Calling the Church to unite in prayer, servanthood and mission
"All Melbourne Matters" is a Project of Transforming Melbourne THE AIM * To Research ALL THE CHURCH across Melbourne. ALL THE CHURCH OF MELBOURNE (There are probably about 1600 local churches in Melbourne – but we don’t know yet!) We aim to produce digital maps of local churches of all denominations, independent and emerging churches, and churches of the multitude of nationalities and languages in our city. (Did you know there are over 60 Chinese churches in Melbourne?) It will show the riches of the resources and groups that provide training, counselling, prayer, camps, etc and the networks and groups that bring together Christians in various areas of the Church – ministering to Christians. Then there are the great number of ministries that exist to care for and serve the millions outside the Church – social welfare, social justice, chaplaincies, hostels, outreach groups, etc. It will show something of the wonderful and vital support the Church on which the community depends! (If WE don’t know how vital the Church is to the city – how can we expect others to value it?) How many are part of the life of the Church? Some surveys say 400,000. ALL THE PEOPLE OF MELBOURNE It is said to be the 6th most multi-cultural cities in the world. There are over 140 nationalities and over 160 languages. 50,000 overseas students. Then there are 100s of other cultures: - the skateboarders, the Gothics, the Latte set, the AFLs, the surfers, the clubbers, the shift workers, etc. Many of these have no connection with the Church culture, and may never "come to Church". And what about the people in the many areas of Melbourne where there is no effective Christian presence? How will these people come to know how much Jesus loves them? ALL THE CHURCH AND ALL THESE PEOPLE MATTER BUT WHY ARE THERE SO MANY OUTSIDE THE CHURCH, and some areas where there are MANY churches, and other areas with few or none? I AM CONVINCED IT IS BECAUSE THE PARTS OF THE BODY DO NOT ACT TOGETHER, AND NO BODY-PART HAS EVEN CONSIDERED THE WHOLE TASK GOD HAS TRUSTED US TO US. Acting independently we will never fulfill (or even consider) our mission to ALL these people, nor bring the transforming power and love of God to our city. But together we can fulfill our Call and Destiny as individual Christians and as the Church. THE RESEARCH Our research will over-lay the Church data with demographics from the 2006 National Census to get an idea where the Church is, and where it isn’t. Where the Chinese people are and where the Chinese churches are. Etc The research has been initiated and is managed by "Transforming Melbourne". It is done in cooperation with the NCLS and directed by the Christian Research Association. Much of the surveying will be done by volunteers. (Such as YOU?) It is endorsed by 24 denominations and affiliations, and many Christian ministries, Bible Colleges, etc. So - THE PURPOSE OF "ALL MELBOURNE MATTERS"? The results will be shared in early 2008 with gatherings of leaders and members of the Church at a citywide level, and in each of the 31 local cities. We pray that the many parts of the Church will hear God’s call clearly, and share and work and pray together as a UNITED MISSIONARY MOVEMENT for ALL the people of Melbourne. People from a range of ministries and mission organisations will be working together soon to prepare stories, strategies and resources to be available for these gatherings to assist in working towards a united and intentional strategy for mission to our city. WE CANNOT MAKE THE CHURCH UNITE IN MISSION. WE ASK YOU TO PRAY God longs for us to believe He will enable us to do everything He has asked us to do. EXPECT MORE FROM HIM! LOCAL CITY PRAYER GATHERINGS If you would like to be involved in your area, or would like to know more, please call our Prayer Coordinator, Sue Tinworth 0418 389 419, or our office 9570-2534. HELPING SURVEY CHURCHES IN YOUR AREA Training is available. Please call our office on 9570 2534 for more info. WE PRAISE THE LORD for the many signs of His sovereign leading and provision for this project! PLEASE JOIN US IN THIS FAITH ADVENTURE: Pray for God’s leading & provision, and join in with us! Come along to the Global Bridegroom Fast
We at Melbourne International believe that true and lasting revival will be be birthed out of radical dedication from those who love God. This will spring forth from our love relationship and joy of knowing the King. Fasting is a clear part of that call to dedication and holiness, and we endeavor to make fasting a regular part of our lives and lifestyle. Nicolette and I are also very connected in heart to Mike Bickle and the ministry which flows out of the Kansas City International House of Prayer (otherwise known as IHOP). Their twenty-four hour prayer ministry has been a great encouragement and example for us to follow, and we seek to partner with them in the desire to see the earth transformed by the glory of God. Fasting, worship, twenty-four hour prayer, prophesy, the word of God, all converge to equip and train the Body of Christ to be burning lamps at the end of the age. Signs and Wonders will break out at an unprecedented rate when the fasting increases and the prayer goes night and day. The Global Bridegroom Fast is just one of the ways in which we link arms with our brothers and sisters around the world. We have also been involved with the world-wide 'Watch of the Lord' movement, as well as our own local "Transforming Melbourne" annual 40 day fast. All of these are excellent ways for us as lovers of God to keep our hearts supple and our spirits hungry for more of God. Lukewarmness is diminished and fire begins to burn bright when we live lives of prayer and fasting.

LIVING WATERS is based on the biblical truth that men and women are made in the image of God, and that image is still at the core of our being. However, it has been overlaid with the sinful effects of the fall, deficiencies in the ways we have been nurtured, other wounding to our lives and reactive decisions we have made. These have messed up our ability to relate to others maturely, and to have a wholesome, Godly sexuality. Contact these leaders for further information.
